Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based training program that teaches participants how
to recognise, approach and support someone who may be experiencing a mental health
problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is obtained.
Mental Health First Aid is suitable for leaders, managers, HR professionals, health and
safety representatives and employees at all levels of an organisation. No prior mental health
knowledge or experience is required.
The standard Mental Health First Aid course is delivered using a blended learning format,
which includes self-paced eLearning followed by instructor-led training. Course duration may
vary depending on the delivery model selected. The eLearning is self-paced and is expected
to take 6-8 hours. The face-to-face training is 4 hours (in person) or 5 hours + breaks
(online).
Yes. Participants who complete all course requirements and successfully complete the
assessment receive accreditation as a Mental Health First Aider, valid for three years.
Participants learn how to recognise common mental health problems, respond to mental
health crises, approach and support a colleague who may be struggling, and guide people
towards appropriate professional and other supports.
Yes. Private in-house courses can be delivered exclusively for your organisation, allowing
participants to learn together and discuss workplace-specific scenarios in a safe and
supportive environment.
